One line Advice -Do not even talk to any consultancy or at least do not make any payment before you have your IELTS scores, have your educational qualifications assessed and having checked your standing in CRS score calculator.
Do not approach any consultancy before you give your IELTS and get a decent score (Most consultancies insist on this magic figure of 8777 i.e. Listening-8, 7 in other sections). Anyways they will not be able to initiate your visa processing before they have your score. So why the urgency in parting with your hard earned money (normally about 100000 INR) particularly when most people end up being defrauded. Don’t get carried away by the sweet talks and the highly exaggerated optimistic picture they paint about landing you in the best job possible in your dreamland that will pay about $80000 a year. All that can happen only if you get an Invitation. They cannot even create a profile for you without your IELTS score let alone, applying.

In this CRS score calculator, when you declare your level of education, it is presumed that your WES educational assessment is completed. Without assessment, I think it does not accept your Indian degree during actual profile creation. Even if it does initially, after you receive an Invitation-to-Apply (ITA) you might have to provide documentary proofs that you have had it assessed with WES. WES process normally takes 2 months (Source: hearsay). Moral of the Story - Get you educational assessment completed even before you talk to a consultant. Again there are umpteen online forums that tell you how.
I think Non-Canadian work experience above 3 years doesn’t really matter. With 3 years you get the maximum points.
Age is a very important factor. If you’re a couple intending to immigrate, go with the youngest among you as the primary applicant. To know what difference does it make to the score, try both combinations in the CRS calculator and see for yourself.
Spouse’s Educational assessment and IELTS score can help add to your points. But beware, that just declaring that your spouse is coming with you to Canada, there are some reduction in the points across various heads (Age factor, Level of Education factor etc).
